The MSC Foundation helps bring solar power to Dynamo Camp with ERG’s solar revamping initiative
The inaugural event at Dynamo Camp marked a key milestone in its energy efficiency journey, bringing cost savings that can now be dedicated to its core mission
Focus Area: Community Support
Dynamo Camp recently celebrated the completion of a groundbreaking solar energy project under ERG’s "Social Purpose for Solar Revamping" initiative. This innovative programme repurposes decommissioned photovoltaic solar panels for use in high-impact social projects in Italy and around the world, promoting a circular economy approach to solar technology.
Key representatives at the event included Alessandro Garrone, Executive Vice President of ERG SpA, Sandra Romagnani, President of the Municipal Council of San Marcello Piteglio, Serena Porcari, CEO of the Dynamo Camp Foundation, and Daniela Picco, Executive Director of the MSC Foundation, who all highlighted the importance of harnessing sustainable energy solutions to support vital social causes. The initiative marks a significant advance in helping NGOs like Dynamo Camp become more energy-efficient, allowing them to allocate resources more effectively to their missions.
Dynamo Camp is one of four organisations currently benefiting from the initiative, which aims to bring energy self-sufficiency to clinics, schools and community structures, ultimately improving the quality of life in their areas.
The 84 kWp solar power system installed will meet a substantial part of Dynamo Camp’s energy needs, reducing its operating costs and freeing up funds for its transformative programmes for children with serious health conditions. The installation also includes six electric vehicle charging stations, increasing the camp’s eco-friendly facilities.
The MSC Foundation is playing a crucial role in the solar revamping initiative’s success, taking care of logistics and coordinating the transportation of the photovoltaic panels from ERG’s warehouses to their final destinations. We have also donated two containers to projects in Malawi and Madagascar and organised their international maritime shipping.
Our partnership with ERG in the "Social Purpose for Solar Revamping" initiative will continue throughout 2024 and 2025 with new projects in Ukraine and Zimbabwe, delivering further on the MSC Foundation’s commitment to empower impactful social initiatives worldwide.
